IMMEDIATE RELEASE! [Jan 6, 2010]
REPORT OF ALXANDER F. SKIRPAN, JR., SENIOR HEARING EXAMINER
January 6, 2010
(Richmond, VA) Report was filed by Hearing Examiner in Richmond that recommends withdrawl of PATH's application for a toxic coal-fired transmission line through Northern Virginia. This recommendation now goes to the SCC, which can accept, amend or reject his report.
Skirpan admits that Virginia might possibly loose it's jurisdiction to FERC because a withdraw of the application is more technically correct and easier [for PATH]. (pg. 17 of Report)
The people of Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia are still in LIMBO.

Let them know you won't stand for this "farce" of a commission!
The PATH transmission line is a 1.8 Billion dollar project to transmit power from AEP's coal fired generation plant in Amos approximately 290 miles from the Amos substation in Putnam County WV. to a new Kemptown substation in Frederick,MD. None of the power is for West Virginia or Virginia. This project has a 14.3% guaranteed annual return on equity for the electric companies involved.
We now have EXPERT testimony collaborating what we have been saying all along there is no need, PATH does not add reliability, it has health impacts due to the EMF's and it will increase air pollution.
